Canaan Valley, 9/30-10/2/20

Losing my job in July was heartbreaking and I felt ALL the emotions, but I have to admit I have been enjoying unemployment/self-employment! My aunt and uncle rented a house in Canaan Valley last week and invited hubs and I to join them. If I had been teaching, I would never have been able to take a week off, especially not on short notice. But since I am not currently teaching…we were able to go, and I am so glad!

Canaan Valley is home to Blackwater Falls and Dolly Sods, which have been on my photography/hiking bucket list for many years. I have wanted to check them out since I first heard of them while living in West Virginia, but they were 3+ hours away — too far for a day trip, and I didn’t have the financial means for an overnight on my own.

Now, I can finally say that I have visited these places, and they definitely did not disappoint! We lucked out with gorgeous weather and near-peak with the fall leaves, so it was the perfect time to enjoy the scenery.
