Monday Minute 10/12/20

I started a new part-time job this week, with the K12 Virginia Virtual Academy, as a paraprofessional in the compliance division. It’s time for me to resist learning how to use Excel and become an Excel master! Spreadsheets are my new life. I set myself up an office in a window alcove upstairs and I love it! When I am sitting, I can’t see the road or railroad tracks, just the field across the tracks and it’s definitely a nice view! I also bought myself a new yoga ball chair with a rolling base, which should be more comfortable than the wooden stool I was sitting on last week…

I’m busier than ever, as I also taught several Spanish classes on Outschool last week, the kids were with us for half of last week and will be back again today to spend this week with us, I teach 2 workout classes on Tuesdays, and now I also have the new job and associated meetings to add to my calendar. Not to mention chores…I’m still waiting for the kitchen floor to mop itself but it hasn’t happened yet…

Yep, I’m definitely a Spanish teacher, not an artist! I love teaching Spanish through storytelling and illustrating though. I had lots of fun teaching 3 classes in this way on Outschool last week.

I’m feeling a little bit crazy with the pressure of everything on my plate right now, but excited for all the opportunities and looking forward to settling into a weekly schedule. I definitely function best with a schedule and routine, and this job is going to help me establish them now. There may be a few missed blog posts as I settle into my new routine, but 🤞🏼I will be able to stay on top of them!

I didn’t run a lot of miles this week, but I did make it to 20, and I also walked about 11 miles and biked 25, so it wasn’t a cardio-less week by any means. And though my running mileage was low, it wasn’t slow! Every run averaged under 7:40 pace which is pretty quick for me right now. Every day I meant to run an easy run something happened to prevent it. Monday I ran with the guys, we started fast, and I managed to hold on. (And who am I kidding, I prefer running faster anyway). Wednesday I meant to run easy, but I was in a time crunch to get out of town to Lewisburg, so I ended up quick again. Thursday I did 200s on the track and jogged a 200 recovery between each one so that run averaged quick as well. Saturday I ran with the guys again so…🤷🏻‍♀️I thoroughly enjoyed the quicker runs, but hopefully I’ll manage to squeeze in some slower ones this week as I know my body can’t sustain that many faster runs without a break.

Yes, we like to do silly poses together after running… and I was exhausted after the bike ride so I tried to rest my head on hubs’ shoulder but really only succeeded in whacking him with my helmet. Oops.

Oh, and while I was on my quick overnight trip to Lewisburg…I got my hair dyed purple again! It all washed out in less than a week last time…apparently my hair rejected the dye 🤦🏻‍♀️but we used a permanent dye this time, and bleached my hair a bit first so hopefully it will stick this time.
