A weekly recap of what’s going on here at Run 4 the Hills.

There was a sad lack of running this week…I managed to aggravate my hamstrings with the hilly run I did last Sunday, resulting in them knotting up and pulling on my lower back to the point that every time I sat for too long, I couldn’t stand up straight when I got up! There’s been lots of stretching and foam rolling going on over here, and I no longer have trouble standing up straight, but I’m still having occasional back pain. Thankfully I’m almost back to normal. Unfortunately, this happens once or twice a year, always on the left side. It’s probably (definitely) related to the fact that my left hip is slightly rotated out of place from various horse-back riding mishaps. I’m headed to PT this morning, I think it’s past time to get this straightened out for good!

So thanks to my hamstrings/lower back pain, it was a pretty low key start to the week, but then we got the kids on Thursday evening. They have really been wanting to go to a pool, but that’s not an option right now. I racked my brain for some kind of substitute and decided to take them to Sugar Hollow Forest for some hiking and creeking on Friday while hubs worked. It was a smashing success. So much so, we went back again on Saturday with hubs and a picnic lunch! Who needs a pool when you have a creek to play in?!

On Saturday, I loaded all our bikes on the car and we headed to the Creeper Trail. Hubs biked from the house and met us out on the trail. The girls and I ended up with 8 miles for the day, and hubs got 20. It was a gorgeous day to be out there on the bikes! Then we headed home, got out the slip n slide, invited some friends over, and had some fun in the sunshine and the hose.

All in all, it was a good week and a fun-filled outdoors weekend!
